People really aren't into metal believe it or not. So I've been thinking of different directions I could take with my new music.

Hi.

Well, I've just released my other new CD as a torrent. It's not the acoustic project, it is my ultra heavy project, In Staid Grace! Not to be confused with Rainwound either, which is my progressive rock project. This one is more like black metal.

So if you use torrents.... here is the link to get it!

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4627768/In_Staid_Grace_-_2009_-_Revelations

Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Alright, well it's been a while... here's a new song, finally!

http://brandon.rainwound.com/mymusic/recall.mp3

I wanted to make a simpler song with just acoustic guitar and vocals for the first song on the CD, but I decided to add bass in there too. I really like how the acoustic guitars fit together the way they did, even when I was playing something different for each channel -- a lucky mistake on a couple occasions! Enjoy.

Another two-pack here for you, ladies and gentlemen. First, the piano ballad Lapse of Grace followed by the new acoustic tune, Calling. As always, you can find the 320kbps quality versions at http://brandon.rainwound.com/ but for those who are lazy, here is a direct link:

http://brandon.rainwound.com/mymusic/lapse.mp3

http://brandon.rainwound.com/mymusic/calling.mp3

I hope you enjoy both of them. I'll post the lyrics here simply because I had done that in the beginning. I kind of forgot to do that for a couple of these.

Lapse of Grace

The rain is falling upon this tainted day
I wish I could have been there for you when the sky turned gray
I saw the fear mounting in your eyes when you left here with haste
Please forgive me for this momentary lapse of grace

You had faith in me this time even though I'd lost it myself inside
In silence we hid together, our hearts overpowering our minds
I can't figure out this time when everything has gone astray
Maybe we won't live to see another day of pain

As time grows short and we fight to survive
Prayers heal the soul and enlighten our hearts and minds
When it seems like there is no answer, you've got to have faith
Everything happens for a reason through the glory of God's grace

Things will become clear in the future I know
Believe and try your best and you will reap what you sow

Life is a gift to be enjoyed but not wasted
When you find your purpose you will know that you've chosen the right path
Calling

Today I stand at the brink
I look in all directions
The clouds grow ever larger
The day begins to sink

Thinking through the day's events
Sifting through the layers
Searching for life's importance
Falling back on prayers

Feeling, trying to find my way
Kneeling, how I have gone astray

Calling, I need you with me now
Falling, I'll beckon you somehow

So one is obviously a bit longer than the other one. I believe you are all updated to this point now, which is a good thing. I only plan to make about 3 more songs, including an introductory tune, an instrumental, and perhaps one more normal song. Thanks!

Two songs!

Frail is the third remake of the song in particular... After the original version, there was a 2007 remake, and this 2008 remake is the final and I'm done with the song forever. So there.

Download Frail here

The second song is brand new, and I really like it... a lot. I know I probably said that "Do You Remember?" is my favorite, but after listening to all of these songs, I really like them all! I remixed / remastered all of them and this is probably how they will all sound, these two new songs are good examples of the production!

Download Wisdom of the Elders here

I'm not posting the lyrics this time around, but if you listen, you really should be able to make out what I'm saying. Instead, I'm going to do a brief meaning behind each song!

The lyrics were re-written for the 2007 version of Frail and I didn't change them for the new one. The original lyrics were about a man who dies and is waiting for his woman to join him in Heaven, but she never shows up. To put it that briefly makes it sound a bit sexist, but trust me, it wasn't and the new lyrics are completely different anyway. :-) They're about losing my way and then finding it and such, to put it short!

Wisdom of the Elders is actually a cool story. It's about how as people get older and older, people care less and less about them and / or their stories or opinions. It's actually pretty sad. There's a lot of meaning in a very short area of lyrics on that song, most of it is a nice, pleasant jam.

I hope you like these TWO! I'm not completely sure, but I think that makes 6 or 7 songs... :)

A new song! I've got another one coming on the burner after some editing, but this one seems to be done. I learned how to use buses and sends with this one, which really saved my CPU a good bit but also confused me quite a bit, and I had a good deal of trouble with the production on this one because I was trying to use more complicated plugins like Blockfish and such.

The new one is called 'Do You Remember?'

You can download it here

It's a more upbeat one. Might be my favorite song of all of the new ones! I hope you guys like it too.

Lyrics:

The truth is despised
No meaning behind all of the lies
Ignorance is bliss
In a world we will surely miss

Do you remember the day
When we were all as one
Do you remember the time
When all was said and done

Do you remember the way
That people wanted to give
Do you remember to mind
Helping people to live

Falling down
We get back up
Never say no
Never surrender

Do you remember, do you recall?

Another new song! The vocals were completed on May 23rd, instruments recorded and lyrics written on the 22nd I think. This one is called Swallowed by the Night, and it is about the choices people make and the good memories of past friends that are so easy to lose, etc...

I'd like to give a shout out and thank Amanda for letting me borrow her Maracas! I used them on the chorus. :)

http://brandon.rainwound.com/mymusic/swallowed.mp3

As always, the lyrics will be posted at the bottom!
Also I realize the final solo is a bit loud... I might put that down a bit for the CD version...

You can find more info and listen to the songs at these locations:

Hope you like it! Thanks

Lyrics:

Always on my mind
I'm listening to their voices
Wishing I could find
A way to get past my choices

When I feel alone
The day coming to an end
I fear that I've lost
The memory, what you mean to me

I'm swallowed by the night
Things that I've witnessed gone astray
Pushing through my plight
Always trying to find a way

I continue on
The path less traveled
Hope is never gone
Even when life unravels

I'm swallowed by the night
Things that I've witnessed gone astray
Pushing through my plight
Always trying to find a way

I tried
The gates are open
Don't cry
Let life awaken you

All my days
Are filled with joy
Found my way
Through God's grace

I'm glad
You are happy
You're safe
In God's glory

I continue on
The path less traveled
Hope is never gone
Even when life unravels

I'm swallowed by the night
Things that I've witnessed gone astray
Pushing through my plight
Always trying to find a way

Sorry about that... fixed the bad URL. Really, you guys should speak up! :-)

Another new song?! Wow, I sure am good to you guys! You don't ask for them... you probably don't even know you need them.... but I'm making them for you anyway! And you appreciate it so much, you stand there, speechless. I know your lack of comment is due to being totally and utterly speechless!

So here's the link to the new one, called "Life"

You can also hear the new songs on my MySpace page, including the wedding song too.

So I really do hope you like that one as well. Here are the lyrics for it:

I never knew your name
I knew you were in pain
I turned and walked away
I regret it every day

Life, life is a game
And I don't want to play anymore

You gave up on yourself
You wouldn't listen to anyone else
You never tried to change your ways
You were ashamed of your disgrace

Life, life is a game
And I don't want to play anymore

If only you could see what I see
If only you could be what I... am
You always were a good friend to me

It is a song about a friend of mine this last semester. He seemed like a cool guy, and I only knew him by his first name. He had a lot of problems, but he also had a lot of people trying to help him and he just paid no attention. He also smoked weed. Oh well. Enjoy the song!

My new song "In Your Eyes" as part of my acoustic project was was recorded between May 17th and 18th. The drums, acoustic guitars, and demo guide vocals were recorded on the 17th. On the 18th, the bass guitar and the real vocals were recorded, and the song was mixed and mastered. I truly feel that I can finally say the phrase "mixed and mastered", because the song sounds great!

Click here to download 'In Your Eyes' (320kbps)

The song is 3 minutes and 23 seconds, including a couple seconds of pseudo-silence. What does this mean? The song conforms to the basic 3:20 seconds length for a radio single! It wasn't intentional that it ended up this way, in fact, the only time I checked to see how long I had written during the song writing process was when I had just 1 minute done.

Also, a couple people who already heard the song said that it was, and I quote, "good for Christian rock." Of course I'm a Christian, but this doesn't strike me as being a "rock" song, and actually I wasn't thinking of a Christian story when I wrote the lyrics. It was more of a love song, but I guess you could interpret it as a religious song too! There's nothing wrong with that. Let's take a look-see at the lyrics:

The Lyrics

This frosty morning
The sun rises like always

I see myself in your eyes

I see you every day
And you see me
I'd like to be with you
Please let me be

You caress me
The moon covers the sun
The Explanation

The morning is cold and the sun is rising, right?

There's a reflection of myself in "your eyes"

I see that "you" every day, and they also see me... I'd like to be with them, but I also want to be left alone. Maybe I should have said "leave me be"?

Oh well. :-)

I hope you guys do love the song!

Death Note is coming to the Pittsburgh theater.

How exciting....

[edit] I would just like to say that Death Note at the theater was awesome... the room was full of people unlike our viewing of Iron Man, which only had about 10 people including me and dad! It was a very intense experience and I'm glad I went to see it!

http://brandon.rainwound.com/ -- Just wanted to say that first. That's where the songs are now..... so yet again, I find myself without a reason for this livejournal thing!

So all in all, progress is good in almost every aspect of my life. It's great when things go so well. I'll probably update this thing again in a month or so, or perhaps when I finish recording the CDs completely. Then I'll have links to songs.

Here are some links to related subjects:

Hopefully this'll be enough for you guys until my next update. :p

No more additions until further notice... I've got ideas for a few songs, but no time to record and arrange them!

Greetings, folks. Last time I posted, I put on the adventurous video game tunes that I had made. This time around, I am posting the piano covers I have performed that were of video game themes! These won't be on any CD, they're just here for you to listen to.

Leave some feedback, as I always enjoy reading peoples' thoughts on my music. :)

Back when i used livejournal, it didn't have all these high-tech text features for stuff... But I'm going to try to make a cut for each song. These are songs that I made within a couple weeks, and they were all originally intended for use on a friend's online game, but that project was canceled. The songs remain, and I am planning to use them still. I will probably not re-record these, so they will stay like this... Feel free to download them, because they won't be different in the future! Maybe very minor mixing and mastering, but that's it.

Leave some feedback, as I always enjoy reading peoples' thoughts on my music. :)

I had tried so many password combinations to get into this, and I gave up. On a whim, I tried one last thing, and it worked... So here I am. I know I had forsaken the whole idea of keeping a livejournal, but I can see a use for it now.  Now that I am making songs for some kind of "solo project", I will need a place to put the links and information... So I guess this page will basically act as an "official site" for my personal music, not counting the myspace profile I've already got up. I will be adding links to songs as soon as I get them uploaded to the internet, and I will most-likely post the more important ones separately so that I can put information with each one.

This page will probably become full with songs and the information behind them. I will probably be removing 99% of the posts on here already unless they have some kind of sentimental value; those can stay. The majority of nonsensical nonsense can go! Thanks a bunch to all of my friends family, yatta yatta yatta, let the show begin!

The band thing has been going well. I don't know if I posted about it already, but you can visit the website here and visit the forums if you'd like.. Band news is pretty much covered on that website, so make sure to check it out once in a while..

I haven't been doing much lately.. I went on my grandpa's truck yesterday, had to get up at 4:00 AM but it was ok, and we went and got a really great 5:00 AM breakfast at Kings truck stop, and then delivered the load.. I ended up going back to bed at 3:00 PM or so after I found out we were going to do the usual routine and just sit around the house all day, so I slept instead.. I think we might go to the Guitar Center in Robinson today to try out some guitars. I'm a bit excited about that.

I got some emails from Daniel Gildenlöw because I had some questions about the DVD, and why their commentary on it was so silly.. here are some of the things he said..

Well, the guitar IS actually falling from the ceiling and I catch it very fast, but to our surprise, that quick movement turned out to be the exact conjuring rite from the ancient Mayas, summoning the Black Guitar Dame who astonishingly enough appeared right beside me with my guitar. Wow, were we stunned or what, but we had to keep that Professional Face of course, you know how it is. If you don't then take my word for it. It is like that. I wish we had rehearsed the falling guitar though, so I'd been prepared for this, but we wanted to postpone this risky act for the DVD recording since, as you say, only a DVD is worth loosing an expensive guitar for. Ever since she touched it, however, the guitar only plays minor chords, no matter how I stretch and bend. So, when the others are playing C major in Dryad of the Woods, I am now playing A minor with no prime - that seems to do the trick.

PS: The Professional Face is now kept in a jar under Fredrik's sink. During moonlit nights it has been heard singing "I am a Camera" by Yes, but only if you listen close, placing your ear to the sink - and, honestly, who would ever do that?

You are correct about there being no TPE2 (The Perfect Element Part 2). Actually there was no TPE1 either, it is just a myth spread by satanists to promote the second coming of the late Elvis Costello. If you have one, beware. It is not an album, it is a small evil device that, when played 666 times through, will turn into a warp zone and suck you into the womb of a woman in Kentucky, who will give birth to you in much pain and you will be raised as the above mentioned musician. Elvis Costello, that is. He was the one I mentioned above. Hence the expression. ("the above mentioned musician")

Well that was pretty much all the info I needed to answer my questions!!

Talk to you later..

Hey. The name of this update is Rainwound, because I recently spoke to Paul from November's Doom. He is the singer and I think he writes their lyrics also. Anyway I told him I had a "band" and that I had 4 songs done out of 6. Which was true. But now I have 5 songs done, wee! Anyway I asked him if he would like to name my band, and I described the kind of music I play and he came up with the name "Rainwound" so I took it and was grateful.. It's actually a cool name. After he said the name, I said "To be wounded by rain, you would have to be dirt or something" And I suggested the Biblical creation of Adam, created from the dirt of the ground. And he said it was a good analogy.. So that's that. I haven't told anyone the band name yet, so unless they see this they probably won't know.

So now I have the five songs. I haven't named them yet, or wrote any lyrics. I was actually thinking it might be cool to just be an instrumental band.. Here's the list.

01 Intro (8:28)
02 Song (11:03)
03 Song (10:37)
04 Song (15:54)
05 Song (6:08)
06 Outro (Incomplete)

I don't know what I will do when I'm done making all the songs.... I can't play them for anyone because I need other bandmates who can play the other guitar parts, play bass and a drummer... I don't think I will make more songs unless I just make shorter songs, not any time soon.... I need to create a website for the band so atleast people will be able to read some information about the project.

I just got a package in the mail when I was half-way through writing this, and it was full of promotional posters, stickers, picks, and other stuff that I can give out to people at Ozzfest and give stuff to friends. Not much else is going on here. It's raining and is pretty dark for 3:00 PM... So I'm going to go ahead and get start on the website.
